Christmas 2017

DEAR FRIENDS & FAMILY.

Another year has passed and time for a Christmas greeting from the Lund’s. After a very busy and eventful 2016 with our 80 years celebrations 2017 has been a quiet year with only one trip to Spain and the rest of the year spend at home.

Last Christmas I announced it was the last time I would make dinner for the w

hole family ,so this year Stevie & Claus are taking over making both John’s pancake party the 23 December and a Danish Christmas dinner the 24 in our old house in Windsor, and as Kristien said, you can just relax and come and enjoy Christmas in our house.

We have to admit we are getting older and have spend a lot of time with physiotherapy  for my back, major dentistry for both of us and the then I have had cataract surgery in both eyes, but now I can see without glasses so it was worth it.

On a more positive note we took a trip to Fuengirola in March to visit Inge & Sven and had a lovely week. The highlight was that our old friends Lita & John drove all the way from Portugal to be with us for a couple of days and we all enjoyed each other company, lots of good food and sunshine on the beach. In May Lone & Soeren came from Denmark to see our small house with no place to accommodate overnight guests, but no problem as Hilton is only five minutes drive away. It is always so nice to spend time with old friends.

During the summer we had a lot of birthday celebrations. On mine I invited the whole family to dinner at Brewers Faye in Bracknell, good food and the children could enjoy the things they like. Then came Kristien’s, Claus, Mikkel & Helena’s, birthdays which meant, that we each Saturday celebrated their birthday in our house with cake and presents, and then they each had a children’s party in the garden in Windsor on the day. John attended to help Claus keeping the boys safe while I had the other children for the day. Helena’s party was a cupcake party which Stevie and her mother arranged while Claus & the boys spend the day in our house. Over the summer holiday the children took turns spending a day with us, so a nice and busy summer.

September and John’s birthday. First I had booked a dinner and wine tasting in London with our old wine company to see ,if their wine were better than it used to be over all the 20 years we were with the company in France. We were not too impressed with their wine and definitely not to the price they wanted.

It was a lovely evening where we met some interesting people and then we stumbled back to the hotel quite late. I had booked a hotel for the night so we could enjoy the trip.

Then Tima invited us to a grill party to celebrate John birthday ,and on the day- 12 September- Claus & Stevie had a party for him and the whole family in their garden, so all in all a good summer. In October we were invited to a Halloween party in our old house again, and this year they had got all their decoration up all over the house plus Stevie had made a lot of scary and good food and the children just love Halloween. It ended with a fantastic Firework display from Legoland which is close to the house.

We have been to the cinema several times during the year as we now have a great cinema quite close in town. In September the whole new big shopping centre opened in Bracknell, so no need to go to the busy and noisy London any more , as we now have got all the shops anyone can wish for close by.

Our friend Anita is moving back to Denmark after 35 years. She lost her American husband  last year and have had a difficult time here without him. We have just been to the last Pizza dinner in her flat and now we must get her to the airport in a week’s time.

The highlight this month’s has been  our friend Dr.Sven Refslund Poulsen’s book called: ” En ronkedors bekendelse ”  which was on the bookfair in Copenhagen with good review. I can recommend his book for them of you who can read Danish.
